Hi Stephen Sykes

We were over the moon to see some of our wonderful Backyard Nature Guardians meet Prince William on ITV last night! The Liverpudlian kids whose grassroots activism has sparked a whole movement, have now inspired Prince William and his kids to join our army of Backyard Nature Guardians!

To celebrate we’re giving away 200,000 wildflower seedballs to community groups and schools across the country. Full story below.

Community organisations play a crucial role in making sure ALL kids have access to the outdoors. We spoke with 4 projects who are helping kids combat nature deprivation and love the outdoors.

Last month we celebrated Communities Week by highlighting a few of our favourite community responses to the Covid-19 crisis. Catch up below and access a bundle of free, invaluable support for your project.

Also below, 6 ways you can celebrate the rich histories of Black communities, during Black History Month and all year round. Plus a pile of great events and funding opportunities.

Did you see them? The mighty Eco Emeralds from Anfield, the kids who sparked the Backyard Nature campaign, the best eco-activists we know… on primetime TV with Prince William! If you missed it, watch back on ITV Hub to see the kids that inspired Backyard Nature telling Prince William why they are calling on kids everywhere to protect the planet.

To celebrate the Eco Emeralds’ starring role in 'Prince William: A Planet For Us All' we’re giving away 200,000 seedballs to schools and community projects so kids everywhere can take action to protect nature from their doorstep. Register here to get some (while stocks last!).

We’re proud to be part of the movement to get kids outdoors. Along with teachers and parents, community organisations play a vital role in this movement. Often working with children who are deprived of outside space and access to nature, these organisations are giving kids somewhere to get their boots muddy and their hands in the dirt.

In the run-up to Outdoor Classroom Day on 5 November, we spoke to four community projects about how they’re helping to get kids outside in a wild variety of ways.

Throughout 2020 we’ve been blown away by countless stories of communities coming together to provide vital support and share moments of joy. So when it came to Communities Week last month we wanted to celebrate some of our favourite community responses to the trials of recent months.

Communities Week was driven by the brilliant organisations behind My Community which is a rich and vibrant hub of free support for local communities. If you’re working behind the scenes at a community group, or need a hand making your ideas a reality, check out the My Community website to get some FREE tools, tips and information to grow your project.
